Fathers Day Writing

For Fathers Day we wrote about our dads. We have put lots of love into our publishing and they are now displayed on our wall. Dads we would love to have you in to see our writing about you! 

Cross Country

This morning Room 9 set off down to Martyn Field Reserve to run our cross country. 

When it was race time we ran and ran and ran! 800m is a long way! We showed great persistence and such bravery when we fell or tripped.

Thanks to all the parents for coming down and showing their support, we loved having you cheer us on.

Term 3

The first three weeks of school have been jam packed with lots of exciting things for Room 9.

In the first two weeks we had dance. Each day we got better and better! Here are some photos of us doing dance:

In week 3 we practiced and practiced our assembly - until the day finally came to perform it. It just so happened to fall on Crazy Hair Day! Here is our video of us performing our assembly. We hope you enjoy.

A Busy Week in Room 9

This week has be very busy for Room 9...   We had a visit from Science in a Van who taught us about bubbles and we had two learning celebrations!

On Tuesday we had a visit from Science in a Van. They taught the junior school about bubbles. It was spectacular! Here are some photos from our experience with Science in a Van.

On Thursday we celebrated learning about the Chinese language and culture. Our Mandarin teacher Li Jun organised a wonderful celebration that we had with Room 10. Here are some photos from our celebration.

On Friday we had 100 Days of School! So we celebrated by thinking of ways to 100. We thought of 26 ways to 100! We then made 100 glasses. We looked very snazzy! Our buddies then came to visit and we showed them our learning and we read books together. 

We have had such a great week! 

Bridging the Gap - Learning to Fasten Things Together

Our inquiry this term is Bridging the Gap. We are going to be learning about bridges and we will be creating our own bridges during the term. To kick things off on Friday we were learning how to fasten things together. 

We had five stations: PVA and little sticks, cardboard and velcro, paper and tape, connecting straws and string. It was tricky but we were working together, sharing the equipment and communicating with each other.

Our Gala Art

This is our Gala Art.

As the Victoria Avenue School Gala gets closer, Room 9 has started their gala art.

Inquiry: Diggin' The Dino's

Room 9 went on a hunt for some dinosaur eggs in the forest behind our classroom. When we found them we carefully took them back into class, put them in some hot water and waited for them to hatch. Over night some of our dinosaurs hatched!

Over the weeks we have seen them grow bigger and bigger, now they are huge! We have taken them out of the water and we will be using them for our learning over the next few weeks.

Keep a look out for your children bringing home their own dinosaur so they can become paleontologists.

Buddy Class

Today Room 9 met their buddy class; Room 6 who are year 5's.

We learned our buddy's name and a few things about them. The student's big buddy then read them a story. It was a lovely opportunity for us to meet new people in other year levels. 

Football Skills

In Week 2, Room 9 got the chance to practice their football skills with a coach. We played a small game of football as well as practicing skills such as dribbling, and stopping the ball.
We had heaps of fun!

Welcome to Room 9!

We have had a great first week. We have settled well back into the school year, and we have made fast friends with each other. These first few weeks our inquiry is "Marvellous Me". We are looking at how we work as a community, and who we are. The picture is Room 9 our first day of school.
